I lost the mounting plate. Can I buy a replacement?
Please reach out to customer service at 1-800-291-8838 for replacement parts/hardware. We are available Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm CST.
Does the motion detect movement of tree branches blowing in the wind?
No. The fixture actually detects motion with a PIR sensor. Which is infrared. It detects changes in air temperature. It will pick up things like small animals, human beings, cars, etc.
How do you adjust the sensor part? My daughter is too short for it to notice her.
Unfortunately the sensor itself is not adjustable. The fixture provides 180-degree coverage and detects motion up to 40 ft away. The light provides 24 ft of coverage side to side and outward.
Light installed about 8 feet off the ground. When I checked it to see if it's detecting movement, it seems only to light up when in front of or 3 feet to the left or right. Is it mounted too high?
Fixture should be mounted 8-10 feet high for the fixed PIR to sense motion up to 40 feet away. You can try repositioning the fixture.
This is a very impressive light. My electrician found it because I don't have any electrical outlets on my house in this area. I do understand that it only has a 15 second on, but all you have to do is move again or wave your arm and it comes on again. Great range and high sensitivity. Great range of light and sensor. He put it in an area that it does pick up any motion so if you put it up too high there will probably be a problem with sensitivity.
Thank you for the feedback!
How do I change the batteries on this model? Do I have to take the whole light off of the house and take it apart to get to the batteries? That's what it looks like in the instructions, but I thought I should ask before I do anything.
You would remove the light from the mounting plate by twisting the light counterclockwise. Once removed from the mounting plate, you can access the battery compartment to replace the batteries.
When my lights come on they flicker. What is the solution?
Double check that the batteries are not running low and are inserted correctly. If so, and still experiencing issues, please reach out to customer service at 1-800-291-8838 for technical support and/or warranty replacement. We are available Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm CST.
It works fine up to a point. After it turns on, it immediately goes off after 15 seconds. Usually right when I am halfway down the dark stairs. Arm waving does not work.
Unfortunately, this battery-operated light fixture has a fixed timer to save on battery life. It only stays on for 15 seconds. There is no way to adjust the timer.
What would be the optimum height to detect movement from 3–10 feet away?
We recommend installing our security lights at no higher than 16 feet. Adjust your distance or range depending on the area you would like to cover and how high you are installing your fixture.
How close can you place them together? I have a 16-foot long shed and was thinking of putting one at each end in the corners (16 feet apart). But I am concerned that they could keep causing each other to come on and off.
Sensor detects motion up to 40 ft. The 180-degree coverage of the motion sensor is measured side-to-side. The sensor is more effective side-to-side, rather than motion coming straight at it (in-and-out).
The individual light heads can be adjusted up/down and left/right to aim the light heads in the direction desired.
What kind of batteries does this take?
3 C-cell batteries.
Had a power outage in area and now the light comes on at dusk and off during the day. It's a motion light and does not work like that anymore. Is there a reset I could do? I have another one in a different arear and it works perfect.
Reset:
While power/switch is on change the area light setting to 3 hours, then change the minutes dial to test mode.
Turn power/switch off for 2-3 minutes.
Turn power/switch on.
Lights should come on for 15-20 seconds then shut off.
After the lights shut off, try triggering in test. If they do not trigger that is fine.
Take the fixtures out of test mode and put in your desired settings.
Turn the area light off (if motion only preferred). Or to desired setting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyAzrZZKjdU
